Park Collection
I love to sit out at the park with tea to clear my thoughts when things start to blur together in my head (like code). I pull the world’s smallest art kit out of my purse (an ATC sketchbook, a book of watercolor postcard blanks, a sepia watercolor pencil, a .05 black pigma pen and a paintbrush) and doodle. These are a few of the things that happen, i apologize for the blur. The scanner scanned them into a word doc and I didn’t have the motivation to rescan them bb/c I was frustrated at not being able to download the ubuntu iso from wubi. Lame.

bon voyage
I originally started this prior to SxSW, when I was still planning on going…before my body decided to kick my butt and get sick for a week. Ugh.

Drink Me
Starting a new project for Iz and Sol: an illustrated book of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This is the first. Thinking of keeping them Level 1 illustrations: simple and minimalist.

Dear Pandora, Why was it in the box?
I never really understood why hope was even in Pandora’s box to begin with, let alone why it was left. Or maybe I do, secretly but when times find us hanging on only by hope it’s terrifying to think it might be a curse rather than a gift.

Plutchik’s Emotion Wheel
Designed for an article I am working on about Emotional Engagement. Plutchik’s theories are interesting, whether you agree with them or not, but I’m sure we can all agree the original wheel needed a make-over. Sometimes I post updates on the facebook group over thar —->here, so go like it please. I’m also considering redesigning a few other theories in need of makeovers but other than Maslow’s triangle, I’m falling short on ideas. Suggestions?

What Narcissus Saw
Today I was called a Narcissist, or at least my endeavors in presenting a theory that was relatively new to the world of UX was met with that reaction. I take it personally though, because frankly I am. As I told Laur today “I’m God’s gift to the welfare line”. I’m not on welfare, it’s just a joke as I guarantee you that I have nothing to be narcissistic about. Without counting the bullcrap in my life (I’ve already drowned them under a beer or two), I’m chalking it up to the resistance of the unknown, or some sort of Freudian deflection on the part of the name caller. Either way it inspired this: What Narcissus Saw.
It was also partly inspired by the rabid dogs that the Urban Homesteading community turned into against the Dervaes. We are so quick to judge but our perceptions are often flawed by our own short comings. Narcissus sees a koi in her (*his, I know) reflection: the symbol of strength against challenges or just a frakkin fish that won’t die.

Home Sweet Home Illustration
“I remember you” she whispers, “but…”
This one turned out ginormous. It’s suppose to be about 9 feet tall and tower over you on the wall, so try to imagine the perspective when looking at it (as opposed to straight on computer land).

The Fates
This accomplished two things for me: 1.) procrastination and 2.) stretching my “sinister” muscle. See a pseudo in-progress shot here @ beer and granola night
